James Frank Beck Sr. worked for Phillips Petroleum for 41 years and was known to invent practical solutions for common problems in the field. Shortly after his retirement in 1970, Phillips asked him to create a tool for specialized drilling needs in sensitive areas. Frank invented a shot-hole drill that solved the problem, and was used frequently over the years by Phillips. Never one to sit still, Frank opened a welding shop with his two sons, Jim and John. Along with a friend, Wiley Bollman, they initially manufactured ornamental iron, but quickly expanded into commercial steel fabrication. Today, Beck Steel is one of the most capable structural and miscellaneous steel fabricators in the construction industry, with a 35 year history of quality workmanship.
Frank Beck's example of innovation, dedication and hard work serve as guiding principles for his sons and grandsons, and the company's talented workforce.
